Bookmark & Share

We’ve added a Bookmarking button to the top of every page on the new website … please put it to good use!

Our existing Member photographers should bookmark any of their own content pages — portfolio, personal website, lightboxes, galleries etc as they come online, to start building backlinks and pagerank. We’ll be doing a lot of this anyway, but many hands make light work … and get resutls for everyone a whole lot sooner.

The button gives you access to literally hundreds of social media sites … so please feel free to bookmark your pages o nas many as you can.

Other visitors are most welcome to share and bookmark as well … if you can add links to any pages of interest to a couple of your favourite services, it will help us get established !

Thanks in advance!

How To Help

As the new websites comes on line there are going to be a lot of opportunities for our existing photographers … and anyone else who might be interested … to help us ‘get established’.

A lot of it will come in the form of link submissions and bookmarking, and we’ll be posting specific step-by-step tasks here that our photographers can complete for their own account. It will all be optional, and we’ll be doing a lot of it on your behalf, but if you can drop in and lend a hand from time to time, it could make a huge difference.

When you crunch the numbers, a small input from all our Members could generate some really impressive results …

1. All our Members will have about 8 ’standard’ pages on the new site … if every Member was to submit each of those to 100 different sites using various free resources we’ll link to … we’d generate over 350,000 backlinks … which would seriously incrase the Pagerank that Google and Yahoo will assign our new website.

2. This is where it get’s interesting, between them our Members have published more than 6500 individual Lightboxes and Galleries … if each of those were to be put through the same process, we’d have another 600,000 backlinks set up, giving us a total of well over 1 million!

I’m realistic enough to know that probably isn’t going to happen but if we could achieve even 10% of that over the next few months, the new website could easily out rank the old OzImages site before we even launch!

Stay tuned!

July Update

OK things are starting to move along a bit now, so I’m going to try and post here regularly for those interested. Work is progressing ‘behind the scenes’ on the search engine and we’ve done a lot of work on our main database to accommodate that.

We’ve also given our Client Registrations an overhaul, so you’ll see the new version connected shortly. Once done, anyone is welcome to register as a photo buyer and help us test the new work.

We’re currently putting the finishing touches on the photo display scripts, for thumbnail resutls and individual full-sized images, so once that’s ‘done’ you’ll see some rapid progress.

I’ve added a post for both Suggestions and Bug-Fixes … anyone is welcome to submit either. Just add them as comments below the respective posts.

OK , that’s it for now … hopefully you’ll see a lot more ‘visible’ progress over the next few weeks, so keep an eye on it and please let me know what you think!

Bugs & Fixes

There’s sure to be a few of these as we start to connect various features, so please make a note of anything you encounter that doesn’t look or work as you’d expect. Please mention your browser/platform as well so we can ‘recreate’ the issue if necessary. If it’s a layout or design issue, a screen shot is always useful!

Suggestion Box

I’m getting a lot of good suggestions and ideas for new features and improvements to make this new stock library better than ever. Please keep them coming!

Great ideas always seem to generate even better ideas though, so from here on, please add your ideas and suggestions to this post as a ‘Comment’ so everyone can see, comment and add to it.  (It’ll also give me a single list I can refer to as work progresses! )

How To Source Quality Stock Photography

Global Eye Images, previously OzImages, offers a unique approach to sourcing  quality Stock Photography, by allowing photo buyers and photographers deal directly, creative to creative.

We encourage photo buyers to go straight to the source when they find the stock image they need, so they totally avoid agency commissions and photo research fees. This also means photographers keep total control of their businesses and retain 100% of their sales , so it’s a win-win arrangement for both parties.

While most stock photography libraries will do everything they can to prevent this kind of direct contact, we encourage stock photo buyers to develop a mutually beneficial relationship with those freelance photographers who regularly shoot the stock photos that they require.

If you’re a photo buyer, you can always browse our photo stock agency or use any of our photo research tools to find images images, but often, if you already know a freelance photographer who does the kind of work you need, you’ll find it easier to go directly to them.

Of course if you can’t find what you need, you can always submit a Photo Search Request.

We’ll ask you for a few details of the photos you need and what you plan to use them for, then we’ll send that information straight to our stock photographers list. They’ll review their offline-files and submit any suitable stock images to a lightbox for you. You can look those over when you’re ready and contact any successful photographers to arrange delviery.

Our photographers have an estimated 7 million stock images between them, that’s images that aren’t currently listed on our stock library, so this gives you access to a much larger collection than normal and we can usually get results within 12-24 hours.

As you may have gathered looking around this blog, we’re in the process of developing a brand new interface for our stock library. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to visit OzImages and Register to Buy Stock Photos. Then when we’re ready to go with the new website,  we’ll send you a note by email.
