Star Finch 'Neochmia ruficauda', yellow faced

The Star Finch Neochmia ruficauda is a species of finch found in Australia. It inhabits dry grassland, light woodlands and savanna. There are three known sub-species - Neochmia ruficauda 'clarescens', Neochmia ruficauda 'ruficauda' and Neochmia ruficauda 'subclarescens'. The birds are considered endangered in the wild, yet are common as caged birds. This yellow faced variety is a mutation.
