The Ogrodzieniec Castle, Poland

With its beginning in the 12th century the castle belonged to some powerful Polish families. By the 16th century it became the most imposing renaissance fortress on the Eagles Nests Trail. The Swedish invasions of 1655 and 1702 left it in ruins and the castle was abandoned for another century. After the WWII it was partly rebuilt to serve as a tourist attraction.
