Days where frost coats everything are relatively rare on the prairies. The humidity tends to be fairly dry and the Rocky Mountains tend to filter out the heavy moisture. When a frost day does occur the resulting landscape is spectacular for a few hours and if one is really lucky, a full day.

Frosted Sage Canyon View The top rim of the Snake River Canyon near Twin Falls, Idaho is decorated in silver and white frost after a humid air front moved into the area during the night. Thickness of frost can be effected by the altitude of the area, the amount of water vapour in the air, and the wind speed.
