Paynesville, Gippsland Lakes, Victoria

Paynesville is a popular tourism and holiday destination on Victorias Gippsland Lakes, 293-Kilometres east of Melbourne. Originally named Toonaloo,, an aboriginal word meaning Place of Many Fish, a Post Office was opened here in November 1879. Renamed Paynesville in 1886 today it is widely considered to be the recreational boating capital of Victoria.
